CONGRATULATIONS!!
Most people identify the name Paradise Cove with the locale for one of Hawaii’s most popular luaus and shows. However, Paradise Cove is also a wonderful locale for wedding ceremonies. In this fourth episode of Hawaii’s Wedding Professionals, host Kahu Kalehua Featheran welcomes Camille Oliver, Event Sales Coordinator for Paradise Cove who walks him through the grounds while viewers see photos of the various ceremony sites – The Beach, The Point and The Imu Gardens.
Camille works with both local and destination couples, helping them with the planning of their wedding ceremony as well as referring them to ministers, caterers, bakeries, florists and other vendors. Paradise Cove can also accommodate wedding receptions on their beautifully kept grand lawn. The great thing about having your wedding ceremony and/or reception at Paradise Cove is, every site has a view of the ocean and for afternoon weddings, the sunsets on the west side of the island are nothing short of spectacular.
Kahu Kalehua’s second guest is a handsome Irishman named Owen O’Callaghan who is the proprietor of Happy Cakes. A Happy Cake is a delicious concoction of Hawaiian macadamia nuts, pineapple and coconut in 2 pound, 1 pound and ½ pound cake sizes. Originally created in 1967 by Dick Rodby of Kemoo Farms, the Happy Cake became so well known over time that President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy, as well as Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Jack Lord, Frank Sinatra and many others have regularly place their orders for this signature product and it is mailed to happy recipients all around the world and was recently shown on the Jimmy Kimmel Show! Congrats Owen!!
Owen shows Kahu Kalehua around Happy Cakes Café, his newly opened retail outlet on Keeaumoku Street. In addition to the Happy Cake, there is a chocolate macadamia nut brownie cake, Kona coffee, chocolates and other gift products on display, some of which are great as gifts for the wedding party or guests. The Café also serves espresso coffee selections and cakes by the slice. By the way, if you have never enjoyed a Happy Cake before, stop by to see Owen and he will provide you with a free sample at his Café.
